Some mistakenly select a Diminishment of Value source by shopping for the consultant who promises to get them the highest settlement. This might sound like a great idea, but it usually is not. Why? Many of these “experts” are either representing one side only. In other words their “opinions” are usually skewed and often not fact-based. Most are not properly licensed adjusters in your state. Ask. Be sure who you're hiring.

An objective 3rd party should not modify a correct DOV or ACV settlement to accommodate one side or the other. This is important….a skewed “doctored” settlement number by you or the insurance company will usually not be acceptable and will often result in civil court.
